Citizen's Journalism Award Offers $500 Prize

Contest Rules:

1. The Citizens' Journalism Award for Students will be presented to the student who writes the best news story on Patrick Knowlton, witness in the case of the death of Deputy White House Counsel, Vincent Foster. Entries will be judged on accuracy and overall journalistic quality, defined as reporting that ideally serves as the eyes and ears of the public, not the mouthpiece of authority.

2. Subjects that must be covered are Knowlton's lawsuit and the 20-page insert into the report of the Independent Counsel, Kenneth Starr, on the death of Foster.

3. Sources may include, but are not limited to:

Vince Foster (dead link)

Dreyfus

"The Secret Life Of Bill Clinton" by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard published by Regnery (available at most libraries)

Reports by Independent Counsels Robert Fiske and Kenneth Starr

Other books can be found at Amazon.com and additional Internet websites can be located with search engines. Be advised there is much disinformation so care should be taken to verify facts.

4. Entrants must be enrolled students in a college or university, graduate or undergraduate, or in high school.

5. The article should be no longer than 1500 words.

6. Deadline for submission of entries will be January 31, 1999. Email articles to: Hughie2u@aol.com

7. The winning article will be posted on the Internet no later than February 28, 1999 and a $500 U.S. Savings Bond will be awarded to the winner.
